My favorite seminar by far today was Microsoft Advertising: Device Love:Where Technology and Creativity Converge. Microsoft talked about the new technology they are using to make awesome products. One thing they focused on in particular was the X box. They wanted to market the x box as not just a gaming device but a gaming device with multiple uses. Now the x box can be used to stream Netflix, browse the internet and play Dvds.Chris Capossela, the chief marketing Officer for Microsoft spoke a lot about their leading products such ad Windows 8,Xbox and Skype. He talked about the 7 principles of marketing and how they incorporate them. An important quote Chris said was," Living and breathing the customer journey, its important to build correct products, where your different and where it works!"This quote conveys the message that they know exactly what they have to do in order for their company to be successful and they are a very successful company so it makes sense! Some new products they talked about were
- x box smart glass- allows you to use your tablet as a remote control
- cell phone challenge- show that their phone is better than an iPhone
- metro style -across multiple screens
- windows 8-opening this winter
Another thing I enjoyed was the Mashable forum called A day in the Future: Media & Marketing in the connected era. Adam Ostrow , the executive editor talked about the past of social media and how it has emerged today. I enjoyed this forum because I follow Mashable on twitter and make it a goal to read their stories a few times a week. Its a great way to stay in touch with the new technologies on the market! Some interesting facts he stated were
- youtube has 3 billion users
- Facebook has 900 million users
- twitter has 400 million users
