Day 2

Today was a very busy and exciting day! I started my morning off by going to my first Tech Talk called Creative Realities: Bridging the Virtual and Psychical worlds. I thought it was pretty entertaining because we learned about the new and upcoming technology in our world such as robots! After that I went to The Seven Ideas workshop by Patrick Collister. This was my least favorite class so far. I was pretty bored and felt that his material was almost common sense, however I did learn a few important things such as:
- The 4 big questions:  What do you want to say, who do you want to say it to, why should they be interested and how do you want them to respond
- The 7 ideas: The presenter, the demonstrator, the problem/solution, the analogy, the inversion, borrowed interests and the slice of life( insight)

My third class of the day I found worth my time. This was the  Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation: Can Your Idea Change the World? This seminar was all about creativity. The point of it was not to learn about advertising, but to learn that creativity is used in every field and you can be inspired by anyone or anything! There were two guest speakers; Jason Aramuru and Antonio Avila. Jason is the CEO of re:char and Antonio is a professor in South America. They both used their creativity to create something magical. They " reinvented the toilet" for developing countries using either biodegradable resources or recycled S***. I was inspired by their creativity to develop something that can change the world!

I also went to Global Brands VS Global Celebrities hosted by Sapienitro. The question was, who is a better marketer and after the panel, I concluded that the Celebrities are because they have a unique connection to the celebrity that they can't get with a brand. I also liked this seminar because I am a BIG House fan and I got to meet Omar Epps!

The last seminar I went to was my FAVORITE thus far! It was a panel about the Visa Olympics campaign by Visa/TBWA. I didn't just like this  seminar because  Nadia Comanecie was on the panel, but for so many other reasons.
why I loved this seminar
-  Learned about the process of the campaign
-  audience was entertained by showing us commercials from the campaign
- showed us the world premiere of Nadia's commercial ( perfect 10)
- talked about the power and influence of social media
-  great insight into the industry and their company
- learned why some things works and why others did not

After the seminar, I went to meet Nadia with two other people! We met her and then I introduced myself to  Patrick O'Neill, Executive  Creative Officer at TBWA and Antonio Lucio, Global Chief Marketing of Visa. I mingled and gave them my business card and he put me in contact with their recruiter!

I enjoyed our talk with the woman from Ad Age at the Goggle sandbox also! She was very pro girl power , which was nice to learn about the female side of the industry because we are so outnumbered. A key thing we talked about was how in the next few years how much more difficult it will be for us girls to get jobs in the industry because so many other girls will be graduating. I also liked learning about her journey that brought her to her career now!
